What’s your current position? How long have you been in this position?
I'm currently the Manager of Ad Ops at Place Exchange and I've been in this role for almost 3 years.
What is a typical day like for you?
I'm on the front line with our Supply and Demand side partners, making sure their campaigns and integrations run well and that all parties have a positive experience. It wouldn't be an average day without troubleshooting new problems either, and that's easily my favorite part of the Ad Ops.
How have you seen digital out-of-home technology change over the past few years?
The scale of digitalization across the industry over the last 5-6 years has been staggering. With that, companies are really starting to lean in on programmatic-DOOH to fill all of that open ad space. We're starting to get a seat at the table with omnichannel digital buyers and the digital industry is recognizing the true value of DOOH. From an Ad Ops perspective, seeing the progression of ad serving over the last 5-6 years has been pretty cool, from USB drives and playlist folders to impression based ad serving and waterfall decisioning is pretty amazing.
Can you tell us about the most interesting campaign you’ve gotten to work on?
We ran a campaign for a client that was looking to track the shopping cart values of customers and identify new customers against their DOOH placements. We were able to drop pixels on their website and in their app, and subsequently track those values in an omnichannel DSP. It was amazing to see a steady stream of conversions, customer IDs, and shopping cart values populate and be visible in a DSP's console/reports. The total shopping cart value exceeded the campaign’s budget, it effectively paid for itself and then some. The value of DOOH was being validated in real-time before our eyes.
What's your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?
I love to ride my bike around town, take photos, and anything else that helps me stay outdoors.
What is your favorite movie/TV quote?
“Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains” - Bull Durham
What was your favorite childhood book?
The Sneetches by Dr Suess
