In Episode 14 of this season's Digital and Dirt podcast, Ian welcomes Jason Dorsey, Generations Researcher and Speaker at the Center for Generational Kinetics, to discuss the importance of generational research and share some of his key findings. Ian and Jason met at Lamar’s recent Leadership Conference celebrating the company’s 120-year anniversary.

From Boomers to Gen Z, every generation is different and complex. Jason breaks down some of the common myths assigned to each generation and explains how most are unsupported by research. He also dives into the impact of specific generation-defining moments, including the Covid-19 pandemic.

After sharing research as to how generations are different, Jason breaks down the importance of understanding generational differences in order to better relate through marketing. He believes advertisers must continue to adapt to remain relevant to each generation. 

Lastly, Jason discusses the impact of social media has had on Gen-Z and how research suggests that OOH is a highly impactful medium for reaching this generation.
